You are hearing a slip jig that orginated in Dublin in the early 18th century. This is our favorite period dancing tune.

LISTEN TO PERIOD MUSICK WHILE YOU ATTEND THE BALL WITH US!

COLONIAL TWELFTH NIGHT BALL AT THE HISTORIC WAYSIDE INN, SUDBURY MASS. 2012~

Posing at the Twelfth Night Ball

Ready to leave for the ball. Adam took a lot of 'fashion shots' of me. They are great for our public speaking portfolio, and everyone seem to enjoy them on my blog...

NO, THIS IS NOT A WIG~I did MY OWN hair! I truly was astounded that it turned out so beautifully.

My $3. pearl headband was perfect...

Dancing at the ball. I am on the right.

Our wonderful musicians, 'Yankee Ingenuity'~

Here I am with 2 dear friends, 'Pvt. Sam', and her 'mum'! I am offering Adam a bite of yummy Boston Cream Pie!

"They clean up nicely"...

We danced until our feet hurt!

I did this period hair style all by myself. I used some brown mesh hair rats, a rat tail comb, about 20 large size bobby pins, and hair spray!

Adam and friend...

Our dear friend Diane. She and her daughter Erin have spent many happy hours up at our home, and we've gone on interesting 'field trips'!

Diane's daughter the lovely Erin~

The Twelfth Night Cake...who will find the bean???

The main floor is cleared, and Tony cuts the Twelfth Night cake.

Another room at the Inn...

Adam in the taproom of the Inn. The commander of our reenactment unit, Chris is standing in the background to the left.

Chris's lovely wife, Kim

Whoever get the bean in their piece of cake is the king/queen of the ball. This year this lady got the bean, and she chose her king and crowned him~

King and Queen stand at the head of the room while all the 'loyal subjects' file up in couples and bow and curtsy to them!

One sleepy ball guest!

In addition to my pearl headband, I put pearl and 'diamond' hair jewels randomly throughout my 'do. These are on corkscrew bases and 'screw' in and out of your hair style! I also had some silver wire 'branches' with tiny 'diamonds' on the tips, and those were placed behind the front 'poof'~

There were well over 100 guests at this year's ball

Diane and Erin danced every dance too~

They served a period libation---Rum Shrub

In position for a period dance...

We had many friends at the ball, and it was so nice to see them all

A coterie of British officers. They read a charming and hilarious letter to the innkeeper!

After reading the letter, they held up a flag as a gift to the Innkeeper. We all sang 'God Save the King'!

Everyone followed them outside, where the flag was raised over the entry door to the Inn!

Here I am cooling myself in the Inn taproom after a spirited dance!

Everyone clapped in the dark, in a circle around the warmly lit entry to the Inn, as the flag was raised---What a pretty sight!

Dancing and more dancing...

In due time, delicious sandwiches were brought out for all to enjoy~

When I got home at 2 AM, my hair was just as perfect as when I had done it that afternoon at 3! ---Now that's a 'do!

There were so many people at the ball that by and by there were 2 lines the length of the ballroom, with dancers.
